I purchased a Camco 50 amp 'dogbone' (55215), a Camco male plug (55255) & female receptacle (55353) so I could splice a 'hardwired' surge protector (Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C) into my RVs 'landline'. I cut the dogbone in 1/2 and 'hardwired' it to the surge protector. I cut the RVs landline (inside the basement compartment) and added the plug/receptical to it where I cut it.
By doing so I was thus able to get a great 50 amp surge protector (with line current readings & remote display, etc) and have it: a) safely contained within my RVs basement compartment, yet, b) easily removeable/portable should I get a different RV, want to use it with a standalone generator, etc.

All 3 Camco products are well made and look like they will serve my purposes very well. The Progressive EMS-HW50C appears to be a well made, quality product also.
Note: Be aware, if you intend to cut the dogbone in half like I did you end up with only about 4 inches of wire you can work with.
