(More customer reviews)When I purchased this product, the packaging called it a "Water Heater Tester" leading me to believe it was more than a simple continuity tester which a homeowner, handyman or electrician uses to determine if the wire is continuous (not broken) between the clip tip and pinpoint tip on the body of the tool. You can use a standard continuity tester to test the continuity of a water heater element just as easily/well as with using this product. Thankfully, the product is now called "Water Heater Continuity Tester." Remember, of course, this tool is not to be used on live/hot appliances, etc.: it doesn't detect current and use on a live line will ruin/break this tool - it detects only continuity.
