(More customer reviews)If you have rail dust (little specs of rusted metal), bugs, tar and any other grime that seem impossible to remove, these clay bars work wonders. You wash a small section of your car, like a quarter panel, at a time with dish soapy water. Then, take one of these and rub hard across the paint using the soapy water as lubricant. It will completely remove literally anything but doesn't do anything to the paint itself. In fact, it makes the paint glassy smooth. The best thing about it is it molds to your hand as you're using it so it's comfortable to use AND it perfectly molds to the crevices you are wiping around. It is the ONLY way to clean the grime that ends up in and around the badges of your vehicle too. If you drop it in dirt though, you might as well throw it away. The grit from the dirt will scratch your paint. As you use it, you can stretch and fold it again and again to get a clean facet with which to wipe your car. One bar will detail a pretty grimy car several times. In between uses, store it in a ziplock bag.
It still takes some elbow grease and some time but you won't believe how new your paint will look. It took out spots that I had written off as permanent flaws of my car's exterior. If you detail your own car and aren't using these, you're wasting your time. When you take it to the detailing shop, this is what they use.
I haven't tried it yet but I've read it also gets your glass cleaner than anything else will too.
