As others have mentioned, the feel of this is just as I remember Slime from back in the day. I couldn't tell you what a container of Slime cost back then, but I have a feeling that now that it is a "high tech" cleaning product you're paying a premium. Personally, I'd like to have it still come in the little trashcan that Slime came in. The plastic pouch that it is now shipped in is difficult to get the product out of and I quickly transfered it to a more easily accessible container - a half pint container from the local deli.
One thing that I hadn't seen mentioned either in the product description or the reviews was the scent. This one has a citrus smell to it that is a bit strong, but not unpleasant. Now I am curious what the blue version smells like. Speaking of the blue version, I couldn't find anywhere - including the manufacturer's website - where it said that there was any difference in the blue and the orange versions other than color (and possibly scent?). The mfg's website also had a green version for household use that Amazon does not seem to carry.
The first thing I tried it on was a few items around my computer - my monitor, my keyboard, and an iPod dock. The Splat quickly cleaned dust and debris out of all three with no problems. The keyboard in particular impressed me as I've tried brushes, canned air, and moistened q-tips to clean out keyboards - all with less than desirable results. Less than a minute spent rolling the Splat across the keyboard and it is nicely cleaned!
Using the Splat, you feel like there is a coating on your fingers and the objects that you are cleaning, but it quickly dries once it is no longer in contact with the Splat and I have been unable to discern any residue afterwards.
Another reviewer mentioned that the Splat stuck to everything and that it was difficult to remove from the items being cleaned. I wonder what the temperature was that he was using it in. I remember refrigerating the original Slime because with play and warmer weather it would become difficult to work with. It is December in the Northeast here and I started using the Splat soon after bringing it in from the mailbox. The Splat was still chilly in my hands and I had no luck in attempting to get it stuck either to fabrics or into crevices in the items I was cleaning.
I am a little disappointed at the measly amount that you receive in the package - I would have liked if it was about half again as much as I received. I feel that the smaller quantity is going to result in a shorter lifespan for it, but I will have to see about that through use.
Overall, I am initially positive about the product and its capabilities.
